Developmental milestones are estimated ages for which mental and physical progression occur. Pediatricians and parents may informally assess a child’s development of communication, fine motor and gross motor skills, by referring to the developmental milestones.
At your first visit, the formal evaluation will indicate whether or not there is a need for therapy. A therapeutic plan of care will usually consist of visits twice weekly for 30-60 minute sessions to address communicative, cognitive, feeding, swallowing, fine motor, gross motor, balance, gait, and/or sensory goals outlined in the initial evaluation. The therapy sessions are provided at our clinic or in the patient’s home, daycare, private school, or Head Start center.
